Wentworth Ski Hill

Nova Scotia’s largest ski hill has operated for over 90 years. During the 1930s, skiers travelled by train to the snowbound community of Wentworth, Cumberland County, packing the snow into an ascending trail themselves while travelling down sections of slope cleared manually. The hill was used for military training only from 1939–1945. Regular ski club members from Truro rented a home for ski holidays by the 1950s. Eventually, funds were raised to create two foot lifts and the Wentworth Ski Club was born.
